Risers of the Week

Week of June 14, 2026

Every week we look for people who are helping move humanity forward. Not because they are famous, wealthy, or powerful, but because they are demonstrating something our world desperately needs more of: the willingness to work together.

1. Citizens Rebuilding Trust Through Civic Assemblies

📍 United States

Across the United States, local civic assemblies continue demonstrating that democracy works best when ordinary people participate directly in solving problems. In recent weeks, citizen-led assemblies in Los Angeles and other communities brought together people from different political viewpoints, backgrounds and experiences to discuss governance, reform and community priorities.

Instead of shouting matches, people sat down together. They listened. They learned. They debated. And they produced recommendations designed to improve their communities.

Why They Rise

Because democracy becomes stronger when citizens choose collaboration over conflict.

2. French Students Reviving a Legacy of Friendship

📍 France / United States

More than 250 students across France recently participated in projects celebrating the historic "Gratitude Train," a symbol of friendship and cooperation between France and the United States. The project involved researching history, creating exhibits, producing artwork and helping restore awareness of a shared story that spans generations.

The students were not focused on what separates nations. They focused on what connects them.

Why They Rise

Because they remind us that cooperation between nations begins with cooperation between people.

3. Volunteers Preparing Camp Neyati for Families and Children

📍 Community Service

Volunteers from throughout their community recently gathered to prepare Camp Neyati for the upcoming season. Business leaders worked beside retirees. Families worked beside students. Neighbors worked beside strangers.

Together they cleaned, repaired, organized and prepared the camp for children and families who will benefit from those efforts.

No one asked who voted for whom. No one demanded ideological agreement. People simply showed up to help.

Why They Rise

Because communities become stronger whenever people invest their time and energy in helping others succeed.

4. Communities and Researchers Solving Problems Together

📍 Europe / Local Communities

Projects highlighted at the 2026 New European Bauhaus Festival showcased researchers, local communities and civic organizations working together to improve neighborhoods and quality of life. Rather than experts working in isolation, these initiatives brought citizens directly into the process.

The result was solutions informed by both knowledge and lived experience.

Why They Rise

Because innovation becomes more powerful when everyone has a seat at the table.

This week’s takeaway: The challenges facing humanity are shared challenges. The solutions must be shared solutions. Cooperation is not weakness. Empathy is not weakness. Community is not weakness. Working together is one of humanity’s greatest strengths.
